Aston Martin Collaborates With Jaeger-Lecoultre

Apr 22, 2014

In keeping with a history of collaborative partnership, legendary brands Aston Martin and Jaeger-LeCoultre announced earlier this year a series of commemorative wristwatches to mark some major milestones for each brand.  The British sports car company celebrates its 100th birthday this year, and the storied manufacture from the Joux Valley of Switzerland turns an astounding 180.  This series consists of three separate timepieces, each with a distinct flavor.

First up is the AMVOX5 World Chronograph Cermet (shown above). With its distinctive black ceramic/aluminum alloy/titanium case, this timepiece pulls double duty as both a worldtimer and chronograph. It features a 30-minute register, hour counter, date function, and simultaneous display of all 24 time zones, all with a markedly sporty automotive vibe.  The watch is being manufactured in a limited run of 500 pieces, and is a one of the best looking modern worldtimers we’ve come across.

Next in line is the Master Compressor Extreme W-Alarm (shown above).  Even more limited at only 100 pieces produced (a nod to 100 Years of Aston Martin), this polished 46mm behemoth couples a worldtimer complication with an alarm function.  The dial on this model is styled after the signature Aston Martin radiator grille.

The final piece in the collection is the much more reasonably sized 40mm Master Hometime (shown above), which in our opinion nails it when it comes to the aesthetics.  This model is a beautiful interpretation of Aston Martin design, coupling sporty elements such as the dashboard inspired subsidiary seconds register and red-tipped GMT hand with classically designed steel case and alligator strap.  This piece is a much more subtle celebration of the two legendary brands than the two others in the collection, and for that reason alone we’d be most likely to strap this one on and call it our own.
