Davide Cerrato Recommends

Jul 02, 2014

Longtime Rolex executive Davide Cerrato wears a number of different hats at Tudor, where he oversees all marketing and communications activities, in addition to design and product development. Based in Geneva, he is a frequent and friendly face on the international watch circuit, instantly recognizable by his trademark glasses. He recommends the following:

POSITANO, Italy

“It’s on the wild and stunning Amalfi Coast, carved into the mountains overlooking the sea. The weather is always sunny with a royal blue sky overhead. When I’m there, everything just slows down. People take time to speak and laugh with each other. I’ve been going to the same hotel for years, Il San Pietro, which is about two kilometers outside the main
town on a steep cliff. It has stunning views of the village on one side, and the sea and Capri’s rocky outline on the other.”

HOTEL COSTES, Paris

“The terrace of the Hotel Costes (239-241 rue Saint-Honoré) is a glamourous mash-up of celebrities, artists, tourists, and local eccentrics. The waiters and waitresses are the most beautiful, stylish, and wonderfully incompetent servers on the planet. They have that unique Parisian ability to ignore any signal for their attention. It has the flair of a summer holiday spot on the seaside in the South of France in the ’60s, even in the dead of winter. It’s also where I met my wife, so perhaps I’m a bit biased.”

MORGAN PLUS 4

“I bought mine new two years ago, but it looks like something out of the 1940s. It’s a shiny shade of gray with black leather interior, oversized wheels, a chrome-accented steering wheel, and lacquered black wood dashboard. Buying it sent me off on a compulsive spree of nonstop purchases: a Belstaff Roadmaster waxed jacket, a Borsalino leather pilot
helmet, handmade Italian goggles from Baruffaldi, and long gloves from the Goodwood website. I feel like Tazio Nuvolari when I drive it.”
