MultiChron Regulator

The Gallet MultiChron is a beautiful manually wound chronograph manufactured from 1935 to 1945. The dial on this watch is fascinating because it was designed for applications that prioritized the recording of events over displaying the time of day. The MultiChron was a favorite amongst the military, doctors, technicians and athletes. As a matter of fact this timepiece was the first official wrist-worn chronograph of the Indy 500. It was also a personal favorite of President Harry Truman.

About the Brand

Gallet is a historical Swiss watch manufacturer. The company was founded in 1466, making it the oldest timepiece maker in the world. During the 20th century Gallet specialized in military timepieces with their widely successful MultiChron chronograph. A variation of the MultiChron called the Flight Officer was issued to the United States Air Force during Harry S. Truman's presidency. President Truman was so amused by this timepiece that he wore one himself.

Gallet is one of the last privately owned Swiss watch manufacturers along with Patek Philippe and Rolex. It is also one of the last companies to manufacture its movements in-house. During the past decades the company has shifted its production line to include civilian and everyday timepieces instead of just focusing on professional and tool watches like the MultiChron and the Flight Officer.
