This is a collector standard example of the beautifully elegant larger size Rolex ‘Cushion’ Ref.3281 case dating from the 1930′s. The solid silver screw-back case and bezel are in excellent condition with only the most minor signs of wear. The original though faded Rolex signed winding crown is working beautifully and the case has been gently polished and is stunning. The case measures 32mm wide, excluding the rare original winding crown and 36mm, including the lugs. The original dust cover is in excellent condition. The beautifully black elegant Rolex signed sub-second dial is in very good, untouched condition with perfect hands and finely highlighted arabic numbers. The original signed high-grade 15 jewel ‘Breuget Hairspring’ movement is in crisp, very clean condition. The movement has been fully serviced by my professional watchmaker and is in excellent working order. It is signed ‘15 Rubies’, ‘Rolex’ and ‘Swiss Made’.
About the Brand
Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis founded Rolex in London in 1905. The company started as a timepiece distribution company. But it soon became a wristwatch manufacturer after Wilsdorf realized he could manufacture movements that could be worn on the wrist, something unheard of at the time. In 1910 Rolex is awarded the worlds first Swiss Certificate of Chronometric Precision. In 1914 it is awarded the Precision Certificate for its new movements. These awards turned Rolex into a symbol of precision and elegance. A status it maintains to this day.
