About the Brand:
Beginning as a hardware store in New York City by the Sargent Brothers, they eventually took a controlling interest in one of their suppliers, so beginning the Sargent & Co in 1864 in New Haven, Connecticut. By the early 20th century they were one of the nations largest hardware suppliers. During the World Wars’ they produced materials for the war effort. Through and through and American company Sargent still exists today, but are better known for their locks.
